Pradipta Ray

Pradipta Ray is the Art Director at the Flickr Animation Studio. This studio is involved in animation for advertisements, gaming (developing, and designing a computer game), and TV channel packaging (PlayTV, Zee TV etc), and Set visualizations for TV shows.
Pradipta has also designed for films apart from animation. He has been involved with the storyboarding of many films, including Rang De Basanti. He is a consultant for studios like Pumpkin Animation (some of the animation projects for Star tv and AXN done at Pumpkin won Promax Gold, where?), House of Koan, Illusion Films, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra Films, Vama Communication, (Ahmedabad).  He is also a guest lecturer at the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, on the subject of elements of illustration, animation.

The Workshop

The workshop was truly inspirational. Mr Pradipta Ray gave an in-depth analysis on Animation Design and it's application on various medias.

The emphasis of the interactive program was on the aspect of pre-production design in animation.
The workshop started with a discussion on the elements of design in feature films, and how storyboarding skills can impact the film structure.
It was immediately followed by a demonstration on how pre-production design guides the creation of experimental animation.
The lecture was focused to share with the audience the methods used in the industry to produce different and exciting products through careful application of pre-production design. It was indeed very informal and interactive, and people were at at ease and positive results come out of this workshop.
